Customs & Traditions
Traditional cultural beauty of White Thai people
A warm evening by the red fire. The melodious sound of jaw harp resonates in the stilt house. Elders tell ancient stories, Thai girls sit by the loom weaving colorful brocade fabrics - each stitch, each thread intertwining to create delicate patterns. The air carries the scent of freshly steamed three-color sticky rice, displayed on round bamboo trays next to bowls of fragrant corn wine.

That is Phu Mau Village - where five ethnic groups (Thai, Hmong, Muong, Dao, Kinh) live together harmoniously, where traditional culture is not just preserved in books but lives vibrantly in every daily breath.
Coming to Phu Mau, you will not just "hear about" culture - you will touch, feel and experience authentic cultural values.
🎭 Life Cycle Rituals - Deep Cultural Imprints
Wedding Customs

Although modernized for convenience (from 3 engagement ceremonies reduced to 1), wedding rituals still maintain core values:
Respect for the couple's voluntary consent
Key role of Matchmaker as witness between families
Whole community participation: setting up tents, cooking feast, conducting ceremony
Funeral Customs
Expressing filial piety and close family bonds through touching rituals - descendants bringing buffalo and cattle for offerings, daughter-in-law fanning the deceased, son-in-law and members performing sword dance to "stand for blessing".
🌾 New Rice Festival - The Most Important Festival
Held after each harvest to thank deities and ancestors, praying for favorable weather next year.
Signature dishes
Three-color sticky rice (white, red, purple), steamed fish, forest vegetables - everyone gathering around large trays.
Interesting fact
Chicken is taboo because according to belief, chickens have helped humans greatly in fields.
